A few older set-top boxes may no longer work in the Sutton Coldfield transmitter area from the end of May 2008

Engineering enhancements made to the Sutton Coldfield transmitter on 15 January 2008 may have affected viewers using older set-top boxes in the Sutton Coldfield transmitter region (including Birmingham and parts of the West Midlands).

These enhancements are required as part of the digital switchover programme. Some older set-top boxes are not compliant with the standard required for digital switchover and may no longer work.  These boxes were designed before the full standard for digital switchover had been worked out.  From our experience, carrying out a reset using the red button on the back of the box can sometimes cure the problem, other times It is not possible to reset or upgrade these boxes and a replacement set-top box will be needed. 

We are now informed that further engineering changes will be made at the end of May 2008 which may well prevent the boxes mentioned below from working.

Set-top boxes

• Daewoo DS608P  
• Labgear DTT100   
• Triax DVB2000T   

Combined set-top box and video recorder

• Daewoo SV900   
• Bush IDVCR01
