Will I be able to receive all these extra channels ?

Most homes within our service area should be able to receive Freeview from the Sutton Coldfield Transmitter. However, occasionally an aerial upgrade will be required. To determine the coverage in your area use the Freeview postcode checker. Further information can be obtained from the Freeview web site.

Will I be able to receive Channel 5 better ?

In many parts of Sutton Coldfield Channel  5 is not received well. This is because the Channel 5 analogue signal is transmitted from  Hints, near Tamworth, but as your aerial is directed to the transmitter at Sutton Coldfield the reception is very poor. However, as all digital transmission are broadcast from Sutton Coldfield Channel 5 should be just as clear.

How much does the Freeview Adaptor cost ?

A range of Freeview adaptors are available from us, starting from around £50 plus VAT. For a small additional charge we will call out to home to install the adaptor for you.

When will I have to go Digital ?

The UK government has recently announced the timetable for the switch off of analogue TV transmissions. In the Central TV area analogue transmissions will cease during the first half of 2011. After this time existing analogue televisions will not be able to be used without additional equipment, this can be a Freeview, Sky or Cable TV box. Alternatively when you are replacing your TV you should ensure that you purchase an integrated digital television (IDTV). You will then be able to continue viewing after 2011 without any extra box. See here for all the dates.

Can I receive Subscription Channels ?

Top Up TV have now introduced a package of 10 subscription channels, which are in addition to the Free-to-air channels. For further details visit the Top Up TV site. To use this service your Freeview box needs to have a card slot, at the present time, many boxes are not provided with a card slot. The Thomson box has a card slot built in to accept the Top Up TV card.
